Silent Hill: Origins

"Rusty fuse box. Probably full of rusty fuses."

One of the earliest video games I actually remember witnessing was Silent Hill Origins. I used to sneak out of the room I shared with my sister to sleep on the couch where my parents would stay up playing video games.
It wasn't unusual for me to do this to follow every noise of people to listen to the humdrum just so I could fall asleep and really, it wasn’t so unusual for me to pretend to sleep so I could watch them play. I remember hospitals and nurses that looked wrong cocoons hanging from ceilings and and environment that could not be trusted.

Years later I found the CD still in its original case and I played it way too young for the age rating but just as eager to play and got totally lost in the story of Travis Grady. I never finished Silent Hill Origins. Never found out what happened to Travis or the girl he was looking for.

I do remember the music though and the sound design. I remember passing through mirrors and listening carefully for the static on the radio a tell tale sign an enemy was nearby. To this day my sister hates static of any kind. I listen to brown noise to go to sleep.
